Don't know what to do now that you are here? Start by registering an Out of Character (OOC) handle in the chat room. This is so the game staff know who you are and can communicate by pm's if they need to discuss future character applications with you. (For Registration Click here.) *A Handle is a name you wish to use. There are character handles and Out of Character (OOC) handles. A character handle is the name of the character (char) that you wish to play. An OOC handle is the nickname you want to go by when you are speaking as yourself and not in character. *E-mail: Please use a valid e-mail address when registering. Remember, some e-mails may get caught in your spam folder so please make sure to check your spam if you do not see the confirmation e-mail in your inbox. If you do not get an e-mail within 2 hours of submitting your registration then let an admin know in the chat room so they can either resend or reset your password. *Faction: This is what group or category your handle belongs to. You'll find a list of available factions on the registration form below the e-mail field. *Paste your character sheet into the description/comment section of the Registration form. *Answer the anti spam question and apply. Chat Room LinkChat Room.User GuidesChat GuideRoom ManualIf you need help, just ask some one in the room. There are usually at least a couple of admins lurking that can help you. If there are no admins around then send a private message to one of the admins and they will get back to you as soon as possible.

Chat Room Manual- Chat room manual of basic funtions.Login Section To Login- Use the name from the Handle field of your registration form and put that name into the Nickname field on the login page of the chat room. If you use the same email and password for all of your registered handles the room will automatically set up a chain to allow you to switch between the handles without logging out and back in every time you want to switch between registered handles. It will also keep saved avatars for each handle.
Color- You put a hex code here and the text of your posts will be that color. Click the @ symbol to choose your own color or leave this field blank to be given a random default color. Or enter a hex code manually to customize your post colors if you know how to use hex codes.
Password- You will be given one at the time of your registration through an email. Once registered and logged in successfully you can go into "members" to change your password and other settings. Member settings will be covered in more detail further down the page.
Image URL- This is the image you want to use as your avatar. Please keep it clean. Anyone using sexually explicit images will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the chat room.
Link- You can place a url to another website here. It will cause your handle to become a link to that website. Please do not use this to advertise other websites. Use it to link to a character profile if you want to use an outside service to host your character profiles but not to advertise other games or websites without the permission of the owner of Eternity of Darkness.
Icon- Leave this bank for now. When you become more familiar with the room other players or admins will explain what it is for.
Check Boxes- If you don't know what they do then it is best to leave those blank for now. Someone can explain what they are for later.
Enter- This button should be pretty self explanatory. It allows you to enter the chat room.
Clear- This is supposed to clear the login form so you can start over if you've made mistakes. However, it doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to go and clear each field individually if you need to correct things.
Registration- Click this to open the registration form in a new tab. The registration form is what you will use in order to apply for a handle.
Refresh- This button will refresh the chat room for you so you will see the most recent posts. The room does refresh on its own every couple of minutes but it does occasionally freeze. When this happens, the refresh button comes in handy.
Manual- This will take you to a more formal Manual that explains many of the same things that are discussed on this page.
Terms of Service- This will take you to a page that briefly discusses the terms of service that all users are expected to follow when using this website. They are not the terms of service only for Eternity of Darkness but the terms of service for all of Project JJ.

Chat Room once logged in.
The part that says (public) to the right of the chat bar will display a drop down menu when you click on it. If you select public, which is the default, all of your posts will be visible to the entire room. If you click on a specific name in the drop down menu, you will then be in private mode and your posts will be sent privately to the person whose name you selected. It is important to note that you sometimes have to re-select a person's name with each post that you send to them because sometimes the room will automatically switch you back to public after you have sent a private message. As a result, you may think that you are still in private mode and then wind up sending a message that was meant to be private to the entire room. So check that setting before every private message that you intend to send if you want to save yourself from the embarrassment of saying something personal to the entire room. If you click on a player's avatar the room will automatically switch you to private message mode with the person whose avatar you clicked. So you may accidentally message them instead of posting to the room if you click their avatar.
Undo will remove the post you just put up in case you realize you made a mistake or need to retype it.
Below the chat box is the color hex code for your posts. So enter a hex code there if you want a specific color. If you already did this at log in then just leave that box alone. To the right of that is a drop down box which contains icons. This will be your faction icon (factions soon to come.) The next drop down menu to the right of that one will display icons for the locations. Use the location icons to indicate where your character currently is in the game, such as bar or streets, or what have you. This lets other players know where your character is so they can decide if they want to join you in role play or not.[/font]

How to post
Post out of characters. examples
Posting in Character Examples
Type what you want to say in the chat box and then either hit enter (return) on your keyboard or click the "post" button which is below the color code box which in turn is below the chat box.
Wrapping a post in double parentheses, as shown above, indicates that you are speaking as yourself out of character and not posting as your character.
Placing text in between two asterisks (*), as shown above, indicates that the text is describing an action. Anything outside of the asterisks is dialogue that the character is saying.

Dice RollsTo roll a die, type the following command in the chat box: (the 1 indicates the number of dice being rolled and the 10 is the number of sides the die has.) /dice 1d10
If you want to use a modifier, type the following command: (simply replace the 5 with whatever other modifier you may be using.) /dice 1d10+5 /dice 1d10-5
To roll more than one die simply change the first number to however many dice you want to roll: /dice 2d10 will roll two ten sided dice, /dice 3d10 will roll three ten sided dice, and so on.
To change the number of sides on the die just change the second number: /dice 1d20 will roll one twenty sided die, /dice 1d6 will roll one six sided die, and so on.
